When families come to me for newborn sessions, we often have a lot of time to get to know each other. Newborn sessions last two to three hours, so there is a lot of chatting going on while we wait for those precious moments of sleep from the little one. Back in May, I had the pleasure of meeting Jess and Ben, their 2 year old Savannah, and their new little girl, McKenna.
Our conversation turned to family, career, and hobbies. Jess had been talking about her job as a teacher, and briefly mentioned that she also had a small business of her own as a stationary and graphic designer. She didn't elaborate much, but after their session, I started thinking more and more about her business. I contacted her sometime later about possibly starting a new group for moms who are entreprenuers, who have the struggles of balancing work and babies. With another mom-friend, we started Mom-to-Mom Connection.
Since then, Jess and I have worked on many projects together, and she is the designer for all of my business needs. I am amazed at how well she combines my random creative bursts into organized pieces that showcase my business perfectly. Here are some samples of designs she has put together for me.
This is a card that some of my clients have likely already received. It is blank on the inside so I can write any special message I want!
This is one of my favorites, a two-sided rack card to be handed out at OBGYN offices to expecting moms.
And finally, these beautiful holiday cards, which will be offered to all of my clients attending holiday mini sessions this year!
Fun right? Her creativity is reason enough to want to work with her, but her kind heart and fun spirit also make her the perfect partner. We spend many nights and naptimes throwing around business ideas and venting about our busy lives. Entreprenuership can be lonely, and having another mom who understands those struggles has been a true gift!
Jess designs everything from business cards to baby announcements, and wedding stationary to logos. If you would like to check out more of Jess's designs, you can find her at www.jesssmithdesigns.com or on Facebook at www.facebook.com/jessmithdesigns.
Later this week I will be sharing Jess' fall family photos, but I wanted to take a moment to introduce her first. I hope you love her work, and our collaboration, as much as I do!
